ecobee announces room sensor compatibility for new and existing ecobee3 lite customers
April 18, 2017
TORONTO – Today ecobee, the connected home company, announced ecobee3 lite is back in stock and now compatible with room sensor technology. With this free upgrade, new and existing ecobee3 lite owners can choose to add room sensors to their home at any time, without upgrading or replacing their thermostat.
“This is a great example of our innovation at work and our continued promise to make the lives of our customers simpler and better,” said Stuart Lombard, Founder, President and CEO of ecobee. “We listened when our customers asked for room sensor capability for ecobee3 lite, and we responded by making this high value product compatible with our signature technology.”
ecobee3 lite is for consumers who want industry-leading savings and unmatched beauty at an affordable price. Like the flagship ecobee3, its smart features help customers lower their heating and cooling costs, paying for itself in about a year. It can also be controlled on the go with an easy-to-use mobile app and integrates with Amazon Echo, Apple HomeKit, Samsung SmartThings, Wink and IFTTT.
The addition of room sensor capability helps customers manage hot and cold spots in their home by placing sensors in the rooms that matter most. Ordinary thermostats measure temperature only in one place (usually a hallway), while room sensors measure temperature and occupancy in rooms in which they’re placed. This means comfort when a room is occupied and savings when the customer is away.
“ecobee’s primary goal is to help make life at home as peaceful as possible. As this looks different for each home and changes over time, we realized it is important to develop products that can grow and change with our customers as their needs do,” explained Casey McKinnon Vice President of product at ecobee. “With the introduction of room sensor capability, customers have the choice to add the technology to their ecobee3 lite unit if and when they want, to suit their lifestyle needs.”
Starting on April 18, ecobee3 lite is available in the U.S ($169) and Canada ($219) at ecobee.com, Amazon.com and Amazon.ca. It will be available in stores at Home Depot, Best Buy and Lowes (US) starting on May 15. Room sensors can be purchased in a package of two for $79 ($89 CAD).
