We’re updating our ecobee Smart Security plans and pricing to make them simpler, more flexible, and better matched with how security is used in your home. Here’s what’s changing this year, what’s staying the same, and what you need to know to choose the protection that fits your home with confidence.

- We’ve updated our Smart Security plans and names to make things clearer, and professional monitoring is now an optional add‑on so customers can choose the protection that suits their homes best.

- Professional monitoring is now available in Canada for the first time*, and customers can also discover Smart Security plans alongside ecobee devices on Amazon in Canada and the U.S.
- With Activity Feed improvements, subscribers can now see up to 6 months of whole-home history, find what they are looking for more easily, and know when members come and go.
What's changing
Going forward, ecobee Smart Security offers three levels of protection:
- Core: free, built‑in protection
- Plus: enhanced awareness and alerts for 1 camera
- Advanced: full‑home coverage for unlimited cameras
We’re also offering 24/7 Professional Monitoring as optional add‑ons, instead of bundling it into select plans. This gives customers more control over what they include in their subscription.

We’ve invested heavily in ecobee Smart Security: expanding features, improving intelligence, and bringing professional monitoring to more customers. As the market has evolved, we’ve heard a consistent message: people want clearer choices and the ability to pay only for the features they use.
That’s what these updates deliver: simpler plan names, a more flexible structure, and optional add-ons, while remaining competitively priced and easy to understand.
New ecobee Smart Security plans

Professional Monitoring is now an add-on
To give customers more control, 24/7 Professional Monitoring is now an add-on available for Pro and Advanced plans. This means you can choose professional monitoring when you want it and skip it if you don’t.
There are two professional monitoring add-ons available:
- Smoke Alarm Detection: 24/7 emergency response for smoke alarms only.
- Total Protection: 24/7 emergency response for break-ins and smoke alarms.
We’re also excited to share that professional monitoring is now available in Canada for the first time ever, giving Canadian customers access to 24/7 monitoring and emergency response through RapidSOS as part of Smart Security.*
Smart Security now makes it even easier to see the updates that matter most. Subscribers can now see up to 6 months of whole home history and find what they are looking for more easily with advanced filtering capabilities. Plus, we've made the Know Who's Home feature better with updates in Activity Feed when home members come and go.
What this means for existing customers
If you’re already subscribed to ecobee Smart Security, here are the most important things to know: you don’t need to do anything, and your current features and pricing are locked in through 2026.
- Plan names are changing.
- Existing subscribers will keep their same capabilities and features for their current price through December 31, 2026 in appreciation of your continued trust.
- No action is required on your part.
Existing customers will receive emails clearly identifying any changes to their current plans, along with details on their automatic loyalty savings.

This is the first time we’ve updated Smart Security pricing since introducing it in 2020, and we’re committed to being transparent every step of the way. These changes help us continue improving the service, while giving customers clearer choices and greater control.

Once subscribed follow the getting started guide to get it up and running quickly.
Current pricing on active subscriptions will remain in effect until January 2027, provided your subscription remains active and unchanged. Any plan changes including plan modifications, add‑on changes, cancellation, or lapse in service, will result in an immediate move to current pricing and permanent loss of loyalty discounts. 24/7 Professional Monitoring is a paid add‑on and subject to availability and additional terms. *Professional Monitoring is not currently available in the city of Calgary in Alberta, Canada.
