What does Professional Installation by HelloTech include?

Professional Installation is available for one ecobee Smart Thermostat, one Smart Doorbell Camera (wired), or both. Choose the Combined Installation option to save $30. Please note, at this time you can only make one professional installation purchase per order. If you would like to installation for multiple thermostats or doorbell cameras, please purchase them as separate orders.

Smart Doorbell Camera (wired) installation

In the case of the Smart Doorbell Camera (wired), installation includes all work required to install the device—including, if needed, removal of your existing doorbell and replacement of the transformer, the chime box, or both. If a replacement chime box is needed, you must provide your own, as HelloTech does not supply this hardware.

Important: A working transformer and chime box are required for installation.

Chime boxes

Chime boxes are not available for purchase from HelloTech, so you must provide your own if replacement is needed.

Replacement chime boxes can typically be purchased from major retailers such as hardware stores, electronics retailers, or online marketplaces.

Can I purchase the Professional Installation service separately from the Smart Doorbell Camera (wired)? 

Yes, you can add the Professional Installation service to your cart along with Smart Doorbell Camera or purchase it separately later on this page and adding it to your cart.

What should I do before purchase?

Use the ecobee Thermostat Compatibility Checker to confirm your home is ready before completing your purchase.

What does installation include?

Installation covers all work required to set up the device, including the Power Extender Kit (PEK) if needed.

A note on Smart Thermostat Essential installation with the PEK:

The PEK is included with the Smart Thermostat Premium and Enhanced thermostat models, but it is not included with the Smart Thermostat Essential. If you're purchasing Smart Thermostat Essential, we recommend using the Compatibility Checker before purchase to see if your installation will require one. If your installation requires the PEK we recommend adding the PEK to your order. Your technician may or may not have one on hand. Keep in mind, if your installation requires the PEK, your HelloTech technician will need access to your furnace control board.

A note on the Smart Thermostat Essential Trim Kit:

The Essential thermostat doesn't include a trim kit, and because it has a compact you may notice a gap where your previous thermostat was. For the best results, we therefore recommend adding a trim kit to your order (sold separately). Do note, your HelloTech technician may also have one on hand for an additional charge.

What if the technician determines installation isn't possible?

In rare cases, existing home wiring or setup may not be compatible with professional installation. If that's the case, you may be eligible for a refund on both the installation service and your ecobee hardware.

If you’re requesting a refund due to an unserviceable or cancelled installation, you’ll first need to confirm your HelloTech appointment is cancelled. You can do this using the scheduling link provided to you by HelloTech in your booking confirmation email, or by calling 1-844-986-4945 or emailing support@hellotech.com. Once cancelled, you’ll receive a confirmation email. Please share that with our Customer Support Team so we can verify the cancellation and process your return and refund.

Can I buy the installation service without purchasing a device?

Yes, Professional Installation can be purchased separately by adding it to your cart from this page.

How many installations can I purchase per order?

You can only purchase one installation service per thermostat or doorbell camera order. If you require multiple installations, please purchase them as separate orders. If you would like installation for both a thermostat and a doorbell camera. Consider the Combined Installation option to save $14.

What happens after I purchase the Professional Installation service? 

1.You will receive an email with an order confirmation from ecobee.

2. After you receive your order confirmation from ecobee, check your inbox for a separate email from HelloTech with instructions to schedule your technician visit. If you don't see it, check your spam folder.

3. Once you've received your HelloTech welcome email, follow the steps listed in the email to book and schedule your installation service. If you need assistance with your booking, you can reach out to HelloTech customer service by calling 1-844-986-4945 or emailing support@hellotech.com.

4. On the scheduled day, a HelloTech technician will arrive at your doorstep at the chosen time and install your device. Installation usually takes between one and two hours. Please note that an adult must be present to let the technician in, as they will need access to the electrical panel, chime box, and/or furnace control board depending on your device and setup.

How long does it take to receive and install the doorbell camera? 

Installation scheduling depends on delivery time and HelloTech’s availability, but you will be contacted promptly after your order is processed. 

Can I reschedule my appointment?

Yes. To reschedule, contact HelloTech by calling 1-844-986-4945 or emailing support@hellotech.com.

• Rescheduling more than 3 hours before your appointment is free.
• Rescheduling within 3 hours incurs a $25 fee, payable directly to the technician upon arrival.

If you need to cancel your installation and request a refund:

1. First, cancel your installation order by contacting HelloTech at 1-844-986-4945 or support@hellotech.com.

2. Then, follow the return process below to request a refund from ecobee.

If your appointment has already been scheduled, please include confirmation of your cancellation when you reach out.

Good to know:

• You can cancel at no charge if you do so at least 24 hours before your appointment.
• Cancellations within 24 hours incur a $49 fee.

Return process for ecobee devices purchased with Professional Installation 

Contact ecobee Customer Support and provide:

1. The email address used to place the order.
2. Your order number (found in your purchase confirmation email).

HelloTech represents and warrants that the Services (a) will be performed in a good and workmanlike manner, using the degree of skill, care, and judgment consistent with customarily accepted good business practices, and (b) will be free from defects. This limited warranty is valid for a period of ninety (90) days following the date the Services were performed. To make a claim under this limited warranty for any Services performed, contact HelloTech at support@hellotech.com and they will arrange for a Tech to re-perform the Services. Such re-performance shall be the sole remedy for any claims made under this limited warranty.
