Daniel – I am a 29-year-old married man, with a 4-month-old child. We live in a 1,600 square-foot ranch by Flint, Michigan. We have two cats, and I love to fish, bike, read, and drink my home roasted coffee. I have a Masters Degree in Pastoral Studies and work as a Pastor at a local church.
I remember reading about the Nest thermostat and it piqued my interest, so I started researching it online and in my research discovered other wi-fi enabled and smart thermostats. I read that ecobee is a great company, and that the ecobee3 is a great product. The sites I looked at rated ecobee and the ecobee3 highly. The Amazon reviews were also incredible, so I eventually decided to buy the ecobee3 after comparing it to the competition.
I wanted to buy a smart thermostat to help reduce my energy bill. But as I researched the product, the biggest appeal became the functionality. We are a young, busy family with a new baby, so our lives are pretty hectic. With ecobee, I can be flexible. If I forget to turn down the heat before leaving the house, I’m comforted to know that I can adjust it from anywhere, anytime. If I want to cool the house at night in the summer, I can do make the change half asleep; I don’t have to get out of bed and walk to the thermostat. I also find the reminders and alerts for maintenance to be quite helpful.
As an added bonus, the ecobee3 ended up being less expensive than the Nest, because we received a $50 rebate for buying a wi-fi enabled thermostat. The touchscreen on the ecobee3 is much better than the turn dial on the Nest. I no longer fret about my energy bill. I would describe owning an ecobee as freeing, user-friendly, and adaptable to your lifestyle. It reminds, it gives the current weather, it is touchscreen, and it offers more features than the competition.
