Rob —  I am a 43-years-old corporate pilot who loves outdoor activities with my wife and two children. My wife and I love to travel and sometimes my wife travels on extended work trips with me. We own a 3,000 square-foot home in southwest Michigan and it’s awesome to be able to monitor our heating and cooling while we are away, as well as having the home climate comfortably adjusted before we return home.

I wanted to be able to change my home temperature when I was on the way home, so I started searching the internet for options. I nearly bought a Honeywell Lyric thermostat, but figured some research was a good idea. I was also being pulled toward the Nest system by a friend. After reading a few reviews online I decided to go with the ecobee3. At the time the decision was mostly based on the fact that ecobee3 was to only thermostat that seemed to allow humidity control in addition to the usual smart thermostat features. Now I realize that there is so much more to love about the ecobee3!

It’s great to have the ability to control home temperature from my iPhone and adjust my home humidity without constantly going to the basement to adjust the humidifier every time the outside temperature changed. The humidity control was especially valuable to me because ecobee3 seemed to be the only smart thermostat on the market that offered this feature. Additionally, I love the ability to track the system usage for our heating and cooling, as well as download and save usage reports.

Since there were other wi-fi thermostats on the market claiming to save you money and having the ability to control with the iPhone, the thing that sold me on the ecobee3 was the ability to also control home humidity. So far I love it and would highly recommend it. The iPhone interface and humidity control are my two favorite features.
