Important Terms to Know

Web Portal
Your personalized and secure online ecobee account. Your web portal is where you will be able to program your thermostat(s) remotely, view reports on how your system is performing, make changes to the thermostat settings and change any other settings relating to your ecobee account.

Reports
Reports is a tab in your ecobee web portal that allows you to see graphs of how your system and any installed sensors are performing against your scheduled program as well as run times of your system.

Programming Wizard
The Programming Wizard on your thermostat will walk you through a series of simple questions to help you create a customized program.

Equipment Interface
Every ecobee thermostat comes with an Equipment Interface. The equipment interface is installed close to your heating and cooling unit where they are wired together. The Equipment Interface is what enables the communication between your thermostat and the heating and cooling equipment.

Widget
Your ecobee Web Portal is divided into a number of component pieces, each of which enables you to perform a specific function. We refer to these pieces of the interface as widgets. For example, your Today widget allows you to edit aspects of your program on the current date, whereas the Programming Widget gives you full control over your 7 Day Program.

Remote Sensor Module
The Remote Sensor Module is one of ecobee's accessory add-ons. It is not included with your initial thermostat purchase. However, this accessory can be later installed in your Equipment Interface to enable additional sensors to be attached and controlled by your ecobee system.
