Toronto, May 17th, 2010 – ecobee, the award-winning green technology company that provides energy management solutions for both residential and light commercial applications, executed a usability analysis in relation to their Smart Thermostat.

ecobee found that 82% of its registered customers are programming their ecobee Smart Thermostats. This is in stark contrast to the estimated 30% of North Americans who are programming their non-ecobee thermostats. The result is that ecobee users are realizing dramatically higher energy and cost savings. The ecobee Smart Thermostat boasts an easy-to-use touch screen, a full-color interface and a simple Wizard that walks users through all of their programming needs.

“We are very pleased with the findings of this analysis,” states Stuart Lombard, President & CEO, ecobee. “We set out to create an outstanding user experience with our product and the 82% programming statistic clearly demonstrates our success. Our customers are engaged with the Smart Thermostat and are benefiting from their experience. Customers are reducing their energy usage resulting in significant cost savings.”

The analysis also found that 72% of ecobee users have accessed their thermostat in the last 5 days. This further signifies that the WiFi capability of the ecobee Smart Thermostat is a feature that ecobee customers are taking full advantage of on a regular basis. Customers are also able to access their HVAC comfort anywhere at anytime through the free ecobee iPhone and iPod Touch app.
